Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Girl. This week’s topic is book you would like to see adapted by Netflix. I don’t have Netflix (I may be the last person in the world to be able to say this.) so I just thought about what I would like to see filmed. I do think that this is a more complicated topic than it might appear. Good books don’t always make good films (The Book Thief, for example) and bad books often make great films (The Bridges of Madison County, for example). Nonetheless, here is my top ten.
- Hag-Seed – Margaret Atwood
- Middle England – Jonathan Coe
- Middlesex – Jeffrey Eugenides
- Different Class – Joanne Harris
- Black Swan Green – David Mitchell
- Survivor – Chuck Palahniuk
- Contact – Carl Sagan
- Cloudstreet – Tim Winton
- Six Four – Hideo Yokajama
- Bridge of Clay – Marcus Zusak
I’ve never read Hag-Seed! Atwood’s other books are good, though. 🙂
My post.
It was very enjoyable and a very clever version of The Tempest. Atwood is my favourite author.
I haven’t read any Margaret Atwood for a while, but knowing that Hag-Seed is based on The Tempest makes it very tempting, and I would love to see that dramatised too!
I don’t know if any of Chuck’s books have been adapted other than Fight Club, which is surprising considering it’s success! I keep meaning to read Fight Club and more of his books.
Fight club is a great read. I’d definitely recommend it. I’ve also read Choke which would probably make a great film as well.
I’ve never read Hag-Seed, but you’re sure making me curious about it.
My TTT .
It’s a re-writing of The Tempest and it is definitely worth a read.
